The first stage (external) 

“Article in the field of education”: participants should present an article on creating conditions of development of giftedness in children and youth in contemporary educational practice.

 

Required Formatting

 

• Headings should be typed in the centre in lower case letters with the first letter capitalized. The text should be single spaced, 14 pt Times New Roman, italized, with centered text alignment. No hyphenation is allowed. Period at the end of the heading is not allowed.

 

• To the right under the heading the author’s last name and initials, educational institution, city/town (region),

e-mail should be presented. The text should be single spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman, italized.

 

• An article should not exceed 4 pages (A4 paper size with 2 cm. margins) according to the genre. (The text should be submitted in a Word file, single spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman font, with indent 1,25), black. Bold, italized or underlined text is not allowed in the main body. Alignment justified; no numeration; portrait orientation.

• Acronyms upon first usage should be defined.

 

• Automatic hyphenation should be used if such is needed. Spaces should not be used for formatting (two spaces one by one are not allowed).

 

• Symbols for line breaks, pages and sections are not allowed as well as automatic lists, line footers and coloured elements.

 

• References are essential in the text. They should be given in square brackets at the end of a sentence before a period (for example: [1]). Page footers are not allowed. Reference list should be placed in the end of the article.

Article Evaluation Criteria

 

 1.    Reflection of personal professional position of a teacher, conceptual idea, his or her own experience in the field of education, including the experience of working with gifted and motivated children and the youth;

2.    Relevance to the declared topic;

3.   The potential of using the article for spreading innovative experience among teachers working with gifted children (preciseness, accuracy, perceptiveness); 

4.     Meeting the requirements of article formatting (see Appendix 2 0f the festival);

5.     Being individual and original.

      The second stage (external) : “A project of a lesson dedicated to gifted children development”. It can be a lesson plan, a plan of extracurricular activities, a workshop, etc.

Registered participants should download a project at the website of the “Virtual workshop Community” (http://www.vmdar.ru) in the section “Festival “A Gifted Teacher for a Gifted Child” on the page “Stages of the Festival 2014-2015” 

 

Required Formatting for the Project of a Lesson

 

      The project of a lesson should be topical,  relevant to the theme of the Festival, contain an explanatory note and all necessary structural elements (see Application) as well as layout of its practical realization.

 

 Formatting Specifications:

      The text should be single spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman, alignment justified, no page numeration needed. Acronyms upon first usage should be defined. References in the text are essential. The reference list should be placed in the end of the article.

Automatic hyphenation should be used if such is needed. Spaces should not be used for formatting (two spaces one by one are not allowed). Microsoft Word with 2 cm. margins, indent 1,25.

Table formatting should be given in Microsoft Word format.

Diagrams should be given in Microsoft Excel format.

         A project should contain all necessary structural elements (see Application) and layout of its practical realization. The work should contain references to the sources used and the list of them should be placed in the end of the article.

 

 

Application

Criteria of Evaluation of the Lesson Project

 

  1. The project should have all structural elements: a topic, a lesson type, a form, general objectives, expected results, lesson parts and their objectives, leaning means, methods/tools/educational technologies.

  2. The project reflects the logical progression of a lesson.

  3. The project reflects the activities of a teacher, students and their interaction.

  4. The project reflects monitoring of achieving planned result.

  5. Required formatting is followed

The third stage (internal)  “A Presentation”.

 

      The third stage is conducted in the form of a conference, where the participants should present a video or a Power Point presentation demonstrating the work of a teacher on developing creativity in children.The conference offers three concurrent sessions.

      The participants can take part in either of the three.

 

     Session 1 “An idea”

 

       This session is offered for the teachers who would like to share an idea that hasn’t found its practical application yet, but implies a positive practical result of work with gifted children. These can be promising methods and techniques of work at the level of an idea.

      The participants should prepare a Power Point Presentation which should not exceed 10 slides with the resulting file not exceeding 40 Mb. Every participant would be given 10 minutes to present his/her ideas.

 

     Session 2 “A Workshop”

 

       This session is for teachers who have had positive experience of using forms, methods, and technologies of work with talented children and youth.

      The participants should prepare an oral presentation and a short (not more than 10 minutes) video illustrating their work with talented children and youth. The oral report should not exceed 15 minutes.

 

     Session 3 “Portfolio of Teacher Development”

 

       Session 3 is designed for teachers who have a confirmed experience of sharing their positive results of work with talented children and youth.

       The participants should present a portfolio about ways and results of professional competence development in the field of work with talented children and youth.

      The participants should prepare a Power Point presentation (not more than10 slides, file up to 40 Mb) with the oral report not exceeding 10 minutes.

       They can also prepare a presentation of their work in the field of enhancing talent in the form of Web-portfolio (in html format) which should not exceed 10 minutes.

     If a participant has a website with a special Portfolio section dedicated to his/her work on enhancing talent development he/she should provide a link to this section.

 

        * Requirements:

             A document to confirm the fact of public sharing of the experience should be provided. Such can be: a link to a webpage, a publication, a sealed document from the organization, etc.

             A distant participation via webinar service “Webinar.ru” is also a possibility.

       The registered participants should publish their reports and Power Point presentations on the website of “Virtual Workshop Community” http://www.vmdar.ru in the section “Festival “A Gifted Teacher for a Gifted Child” on the page “Stages of the Festival 2014-2015”. Video files should be sent to odarfest@yandex.ru

         If the work is done in the form of Web-portfolio, a picture (foto.jpeg) and files in html format (Portfolio, foto, avtor, spisok, osnovnoe-0,.., osnovnoe-6) as well as the report, should be published on the website http://www.vmdar.ru

          If the portfolio is located on the personal website of a participant, he/she should attach a file containing a link to this section of his/her site as well as his/her report to the website of “Virtual Workshop Community” http://www.vmdar.ru in the section “Festival “A Gifted Teacher for a Gifted Child” on the page “Stages of the Festival 2013-2014”

 

           See Appendix for formatting Requirements to the Materials of the Task.

 

          The conference will take place on December, 13th. The reports will be made by the participants of the third stage of a Festival, whose materials got positive feedback from the experts.

 

          Appendix

 

          Formatting Requirements to the Materials of the Task

 

1. The text of the report presents teacher’s work on enhancing talents of children.

2. The formatting of the text is the same as the formatting of the article (see Appendix 2)

1. A slide presentation created in Power Point should be limited to 10 slides. The file should not exceed 40 Mb.

2. The first slide should contain the photo of a teacher, his first, last and middle names, professional rank, position, information on educational institution, city and country.

3. Schemes, tables and diagrams are welcome.

4. The whole presentation should be based on one template, thus demonstrating the unification of style.

5. It’s not recommended to use more than 3 main colours and 3 font types 

6. The presentation shouldn’t be overloaded by text

7. The text of a slide should not coincide with the text of a speech.

 

        If the task is done in the form of Web-portfolio, a picture (foto.jpeg) and files in html format (Portfolio, foto, avtor, spisok, osnovnoe-0,.., osnovnoe-6) as well as the report, should be published on the website http://www.vmdar.ru

 

      If the portfolio if published on the personal website, a participant should have a special section for it called “Portfolio of a teacher”.

 

        Requirements for a video.

 

1. The video should start with the shot of a slide containing photo of a teacher, his first, last and middle names, category, position, information on educational institution, city and country. 

2. The length of a video should not exceed 10 minutes.

3. The definition is not lower than 640Х360.
